It exhibits beautiful swirling grain with some birdseye figure. A small branch knot has been filled with brass, a subtle but surprising visual reward for those who look closely. The exterior is painted with milk paint in a color called "soldier blue." The paint was sanded and burnished before the entire piece was finished with walnut oil. The painted exterior
